Avec l'augmentation quotidienne du nombre de cas positifs de COVID-19 et l'augmentation des taux d'admission à l'hôpital et d'exposition, de nombreux prestataires de soins de santé sont confrontés à la réalité du traitement ou de l'admission de cas de COVID-19, souvent avec un accès limité aux tests. Il est donc nécessaire d'éduquer rapidement les cliniciens et les agents de santé sur la prise en charge médicale de cette affection.

(P2P) et Anadach Group vous invitent par la présente à participer à la troisième session de notre série de webinaires « COVID-19 en Afrique : prise en charge des patients COVID-19 à haut risque et gravement malades, y compris l'utilisation de flow Oxygen », provenant de pays plus tôt touchés par la pandémie que la plupart des pays africains. L'objectif de ce webinaire est de partager l'expérience clinique et de gestion et de créer une plate-forme permettant aux professionnels de la santé d'interagir sur la gestion clinique et les questions connexes dans plusieurs domaines. Étant donné que l'expérience clinique pendant la COVID-19 évolue rapidement, il est important que les cliniciens connaissent les meilleures façons de se protéger et de protéger leurs patients pendant la pandémie.
Le spectre clinique de COVID-19 varie des formes asymptomatiques ou pauci-symptomatiques, à des états cliniques caractérisés par une insuffisance respiratoire pouvant nécessiter une ventilation mécanique et une assistance dans une unité de soins intensifs, à des manifestations multi-organiques et systémiques dans termes de sepsis, de choc septique et de syndromes de dysfonctionnement de plusieurs organes (MODS).
Sur la base de l'expérience de la pandémie dans plusieurs pays, COVID-19 est souvent plus grave chez les personnes âgées de 60 ans et plus, ou souffrant de problèmes de santé tels que le diabète, l'hypertension, les maladies pulmonaires ou cardiaques ; ou des conditions qui affectent leur système immunitaire.
Selon le CDC chinois, 81 % des les personnes ayant une infection confirmée au COVID-19 n'avaient pas ou une pneumonie légère, 14% avaient une maladie grave et une maladie critique a été signalée dans 5%. La proportion de patients gravement malades semble varier selon l'emplacement et la démographie. Par exemple, à la mi-mars, en Italie, le taux de létalité estimé était de 7,2 %, tandis que le taux de létalité estimé à la mi-mars en Corée du Sud était de 0,9 %. L'âge médian des patients infectés était de 64 ans en Italie, alors qu'en Corée, l'âge médian était de 40 ans. Ce quatrième webinaire se concentrera sur la protection des patients à haut risque, la prise en charge des patients gravement malades et le rôle de l'oxygène à haut débit. Il s'appuiera sur l'expérience du Nigeria, de l'Afrique du Sud et des États-Unis.
Notre série de webinaires couvrira des questions d'intérêt pour les médecins, les infirmières, les autres travailleurs de la santé et la direction impliqués dans la gestion directe des cas de COVID-19 dans leurs pays respectifs. La plupart des spécialistes exerçant hors d'Afrique ont également une expérience de la pratique médicale dans au moins un pays africain. Today he is Co-CEO of Lecturio, where he oversees the growth and development of the company’s innovative learning-science-based medical education platform, which is used by medical students and schools around the world. He sees a need to build scalable new education initiatives to address the health worker shortage around the world and believes a solid digital foundation is a necessity for the success of such efforts.

Dr. Kate Tulenko MD, MPH, MPhil, FAAP is a physician entrepreneur and health systems and health workforce expert. She is the founder and CEO of Corvus Health, a global health workforce firm that helps health systems and governments develop, manage, and retain an optimized health workforce. Corvus Health was honored for its innovative model of sustainable international health worker migration as a finalist in the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the International Organization of Employers (IOE) Migration Challenge 2021. In 2022 she was appointed by President Biden to the President’s Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa, which advises the President and Secretary of Commerce on how to support African and U.S. businesses to increase mutual trade.
Dr. Tulenko is also founder and CEO of Appleseed Education, an EdTech platform that addresses the global health worker shortage by helping African nursing schools undergo their digital transformation and expand and improve. Previously, she served as director of the U.S. government’s global health workforce project and the coordinator of the World Bank’s Africa Health Workforce program.
Dr. Tulenko is adjunct faculty at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and serves on the board of advisors for the Global Business School Network (GBSN). She was named one of "50 Women in Global Health Security" by Women in Global Health and one of “300 Women Leaders in Global Health” by the Geneva Graduate Institute. She received her bachelors in biochemistry from Harvard, her masters in history and philosophy of science from Emmanuel College, Cambridge, her MD from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and her masters of public health from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Dr. Egbe Dawodu MBBS, MBA, MSc, MRCP is a founding Partner of the Anadach Group where she leads the Management Consulting and Clinical Service Improvement Product Lines. Her primary areas of focus have been hospital restructuring, due diligence evaluation, strategic planning and implementation.
Dr. Osifo-Dawodu was previously an Adviser at the Innovation Practice at the World Bank Institute. Prior to joining the innovation practice, as one of the core members of the Nelson Mandela Institution's management team she helped develop and start the African University of Science and Technology, Abuja - a Pan African University with Graduate Students from over 20 African Countries. She previously managed the Human Development Group at the World Bank Institute where she was responsible for the World Bank's capacity building programs in health, education and social protection. She has a relatively unusual background in the World Bank Group having led and worked on both health policy dialogue and projects with Governments at the World Bank and with the private health sector projects at the International Finance Corporation.
At the World Bank, Dr. Osifo-Dawodu was a health specialist in the Middle East and North Africa, and East Asia Regions. She led the World Bank's policy dialogue on key health issues in Egypt, Yemen and West Bank and Gaza. She also participated in policy dialogue on health issues in Jordan and Morocco. At the IFC, she led the IFC negotiation and structuring of investment packages for a Specialty Clinic in the Philippines and a specialized developing country health equity Fund domiciled in the US. She also provided specialist advice on hospital projects in Mexico, Vietnam, and South Africa, and responsible for assessing/due diligence the viability of several IFC potential investments in health and education in several countries in Middle East, Africa and South Asia.
In addition, Dr. Osifo-Dawodu also worked with Booz, Allen and Hamilton on healthcare projects in the US and South Africa. Dr. Osifo-Dawodu is a qualified medical doctor and a member of the UK Royal College of Physicians. She holds an MBA from Cranfield School of Management, an MSc from Oxford University and MBBS from the University of Ibadan. She has authored several articles, contributed to books and was the lead author of“Establishing Private Health Care Facilities in Developing Countries: A Guide for Medical Entrepreneurs". World Bank Institute. 2007. (with Seung Hee Nah) Dr. Osifo-Dawodu belongs to several professional organizations including the American College of Physician Executives and the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas. She was also on the advisory boards of Sproxil which focuses on innovative applications of its Mobile Phone Authentication technology, and the Mayo Clinic Center for Social Media. She was a member of the technical committee for the African Development Bank E-Health Awards and as a member of the joint Pfizer/M-Health Alliance ageing and m-health working group.
Dr. Osifo-Dawodu was also an Expert Reviewer for the Health Sector in the E-Transform Africa Study – a joint initiative by World Bank, African Development Bank and African Union. She is often invited to peer review grants and journal articles on health in emerging markets
